Growing up around funerals since the age of six allows Tim a unique understanding of how a family owned funeral business should be. He has seen his Mum and Dad, Denise and Phil Connolly grow from a small commercial unit at West End in Brisbane to witnessing the company grow to a well known national public company. The business has since reverted to a smaller business under the name Newhaven Funerals which provides more personal and meaningful funeral services. Since leaving school in 1992 Tim has been deeply involved in all aspects of operating their family owned business, including operating crematoriums, memorial gardens and pet cremation business. Tim is more than competent to assist all clients with any request. Now married with two children, Tim’s personal time is spent with family, friends and the community.
Rebecca has been involved in the family business since birth, starting fulltime in the company in April 1996. Rebecca is predominantly in the accounts department, however enjoys being out in the community assisting our funeral directors. “I don’t think of myself having a ‘job’, I love going in every day and guiding families through the most difficult time of their lives” says Rebecca. “The feeling of knowing you have assisted in the healing process is second to none”. Rebecca is married with two children whom already talk of being third generation funeral directors when they grow older.
As part of the Connolly family, it was a natural progression following school for Libby to be a part of the family business. Now with close to 20 years’ experience working in all aspects of the business Libby’s main roll is in administration. Libby specialises in international repatriations and prides herself on being able to meet any request, and assists client families through the most traumatic time of their lives as gently and smoothly as possible.
Born and raised in Mackay. David worked in retail and customer service for 5 years during school and then started with Newhaven Funerals in 2004. In his role as manager, he thrives on being part of a professional, experienced team that is dedicated to serving families in the Mackay region with a personalised, respectful Funeral Service. David enjoys playing hockey with Arsenal Hockey Club and the occasional round of golf and spending time with his wife and family.
Kim has more than 20 years experience in the Funeral Industry. He has worked in every aspect of the industry from a Gardener to liaising with the Queensland Police Service and the State Coroner. Kim’s core value of professionalism ensures that every Family’s loved one is accorded the utmost respect and dignity. Kim’s favourite past time is Golf. He is a very proud Grandfather and a very proud Tasmanian.
Cameron has grown up as a local to the Mackay district. He began his career in the Funeral industry in 2012 with Newhaven Funerals. Cameron strives to achieve the highest standards of Funeral Directing, by making sure he meets and understands the needs and wants of families with the highest professional manner. Cameron greatly values spending his spare time in the company of his close family and friends.
Peter relocated to the Gold Coast following many years of service in the Attorney General’s Department as a Chamber Magistrate and Coroner. With that experience Peter has dealt with many grieving families and shown great empathy towards all. Since commencing work at Newhaven Funerals, Peter, has developed a passion for all attributes of the funeral industry, especially in meeting the needs of grieving families. Peter has earned a Certificate IV in Funeral Services.
Stephen was educated in Victoria. Since leaving school has worked in the funeral industry for many years, both in Canberra and on the Gold Coast and obtained his Certificate IV in Funeral Services. Stephen enjoys all sports and keeping fit. His caring nature and professional knowledge is very important in understanding families’ religious and cultural beliefs at their time of need in his role as Gold Coast Manager.
Darren has been with the Connolly family and Newhaven Funerals since 1999 in the role of Stapylton manager.
Darren has earned “Certificate IV In Funeral Services ” which has given him professional knowledge and combined with his caring nature , an understanding of grieving families and their different religious and cultural beliefs and requirements during their time of need.
After running a successful floral shop, which supplied Newhaven Funerals with the majority of their flowers, Lynne and her husband took a different direction and ran a holiday village on the Northern New South Wales Coast for several years. When it came time for them to come ‘home’ there was a position available in the office and Lynne was the perfect fit for the job. With Lynne’s compassionate nature and her admirable work ethic she is an asset to our family business.
Chris has been a valuable member of the Newhaven Funerals team since 2010. Chris manages the Newhaven Funeral Benefits Trust Fund.
Chris has held similar roles in private enterprise as Accountant and Financial Manager over the last three decades. Chris holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree, is a registered member of CPA (Australia) and a qualified Justice of the Peace.
He enjoys sports, and jazz, saxophone and the classical guitar.
Daniel was born in Berkshire UK, He moved to Mackay from Port Macquarie, New South Wales, with his young family and wife in 2013. A background in computer engineering and sales and had a fantastic career freestyle jet skiing, and became four times world and Australian champion. With his compassionate nature and his dedication, Daniel strives to make every families experience with Newhaven positive. In his spare time, Daniel enjoys his bird breeding hobby and spending time with his family.
Karina is an integral part of the Newhaven team and has a great passion for helping grieving families during their time of need. Karina prides herself on delivering care and attention to detail to all her client families, particularly in the preparation of loved ones for viewings. Karina enjoys living near the beach and spending time with her four children.
Born and raised in Mackay and has 2 children. Kelly first started with Newhaven in 2008 as a Funeral Director. In her current role as Mackay’s admin manager, Kelly gets great satisfaction in knowing our families are being cared for at the highest level. Kelly is dedicated to making the funeral process as easy and as stress free as possible, from the first call to the after funeral care.
Originally from Moranbah, Steve has moved around the state completing an Apprenticeship and working as a Diesel Fitter. He has returned to
Mackay and started working as part of the Newhaven team at the beginning of 2016. His high standards and attention to detail enable him assist families in their most troubled times and ensure that each of their funeral services are exactly what is wanted, making the passing of a loved one as smooth for the family as possible. Steve enjoys fishing and also working with and fixing computers.
Cheryl is originally from New Zealand, but has lived in Australia for 12 years. She has lived in both Western Australia and Queensland. Her passion is to help people, which she has enjoyed doing in her previous roles as a Dental Assistant and Property Manager. Cheryl has been married for 27 years and has 3 children. Her hobbies include baking and travelling.
Chris has been raised in Mackay as local. Chris has a background as being a warehouse supervisor for five years with a local company before joining the Newhaven team in 2016. Since 2006 he has spent his spare time as a Cadet and Instructor with the Navy Cadets in Mackay. He also loves to spend time with his wife and young family. Chris strives to achieve his best and provide the highest level of care to help with client family needs.
